5/12/2016 - Today we visited East Glacier Two Medicine
Entrance and Mother Nature was not cooperative.
We had a full blown white out on the way to East Glacier, followed by
some rain and high winds, so the photos may not be very good. We did see some wildlife today including,
some horses, deer and Big Horn Sheep. We
also enjoyed a scenic drive through Blackfeet Indian Reservation which borders
the National Park.
Friday the 13th has always been a special day for Chippy and I (our first date). So on this
Friday the 13th we shared a day in a special place. Glacier St Mary’s which is in the most northeastern
portion of Glacier NP. It was totally majestic, you feel so close to the soaring mountains you can almost touch them, and as a
special treat, Mother Nature covered them with an additional 3 inches of snow
last night. So glad we decided to stay
in West Glacier which is 10 – 15 degrees warmer and we only got some rain. The only down side of staying on the west side is St Mary’s Entrance was 90
miles from our campground, but driving is what I do, so the 220 mile round trip
including portion of “Going to the Sun” road which is open at that end was just another day in the life of the gypsies. When the entire road is open you can go West
to East in only 96 miles round trip. We
were blessed with blue skies and sunshine in our travels to St Mary’s and
although we still have not seen a bear, we did spot a pregnant mountain goat
today, yes we are clueless but the ranger told us she would be giving birth any
day now. Tomorrow I will try my skills
(luck) at Glacier View Golf course, and then we will be on our way to Banff,
Lake Louise, and Jasper NP before we make our way to Prince Rupert to board the
ferry to Ketchikan AK. Depending on
wifi, might be a while before another post.
