Wonderful Oregon

4/4 – 4/28/2015 – It was the Best of Times and the Worst of Times.  We traveled from Yosemite north through California stopping at the town of Weed CA before heading up US 97 through Klamath Falls to our first destination of Bend OR.  We spent Easter weekend at Scandia RV Park touring the area before heading to Beaver Coach Sales and Service for some much needed fixes on the Motorhome.  Spent the next week camping in their parking lot while they completed my punch list in outstanding fashion, have to say it was the best service we have ever experienced.  During the days in Bend we spent our time visiting Sisters, Redmond and several State Parks in the area.  Then it was off to Mt Hood where we spent the weekend at Mt Hood Village Resort where we toured the area and made a stop in Portland.  Monday morning we were scheduled to head to Sandy OR to fix or replace our ailing Hurricane heater at Rixen Enterprises.  After pulling the Hurricane out and diagnosing issues, I decided it would be best to replace it with an Espar unit and I am sure glad we did.  It is much more efficient, easier to work on and so quiet you can hardly hear it, and we had another fantastic service experience at Rixen’s.  Too bad we had to travel 3000 miles to get great service. Then it was off to Salem OR for a fantastic two week visit with our friends Jamie, Dennis and of course Cooper, where we stayed at Phoenix RV Park. We really enjoyed touring Silverton, Silver Falls State Park, Oregon Gardens, Salem, Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport and several wineries in the Willamette Valley.  Thanks again Jamie and Dennis for your fantastic hospitality, and the beautiful handmade quilt!!!!!   That was part of the best of times, the other being our travels around this beautiful state.  Wow, never knew Oregon was so magnificent, from the mountains, to the coast, to the Columbian River Gorge so beautiful and of course GREEN.  How could it not with all the rain, but we lucked out and had mostly sunny days during the month of April.  The worst of times was that my very expensive road bike and mountain bike were stolen at the Phoenix RV Park in the middle of the night.  They cut the cable and left only Chippy’s crappy bike behind.  Guess there are bad people everywhere.
