Summer of 2015

6/27 – 9/15/2015 –  We started the summer with a family vacation at Normandy Farms in Foxboro MA.  We were joined by the Daniels family, Coleman family, the Senteneri girls, and the Padulese family.  We had a wonderful week full of crafts, swimming, sunning, campfires, great food and shopping, and best of all companionship.  Of course I managed to squeeze in a couple rounds of golf as well.   Next destination was Four Season’s Campground in Pilesgrove, NJ for the month of July where we enjoyed a very large open site, not too much in the way of amenities, but a reasonable rate for NJ.  The next couple weeks were not so exciting with doctor and dentist visits, cataract surgery for Chippy (which went wonderfully), but we did squeeze in a few nights out on the town with friends and family.   First week of August was another family vacation with the Daniels family, Coleman family with grandson Brayden, and Olivia representing the Senteneri family in Pittsburg PA.  We really had a great time with the highlights being dinner at Meat and Potatoes, lunch at Primanti Bros, fun day at Kennywood amusement park, paddle boarding, swimming and kayaking at Moraine State Park and of course the amazing dinners and campfires nightly.  The Steel City and countryside were beautiful as were the golf courses, but biking was out of my league as I could not handle the hills, sucks to get old.  We also wandered the Strip District (no strippers, just shops and restaurants) while the Daniels family made their first University visit with a tour of University of Pittsburg who have a very good physical therapy program which Serena is interested in pursuing. After vacation with the family it was back to Four Season’s Campground, and second cataract surgery for Chippy,  which also went extremely well, now she is 20/20 in both eyes and just needs reading glasses for the really small stuff.  We enjoyed visiting friends and enjoying the grandchildren for the rest of the summer, played some golf, ate, drank and were merry as we tried very hard to work it off with our 3 ½ mile walk each morning but to no avail.  Guess we just have to get used to old Mother Nature slowing our metabolism and getting fat.  We finished off the summer with a really nice surprise from Jack and Arleen who treated us to the Glassboro VFW party featuring the Rat Pack, with great performances from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Jerry Lewis and a special appearance of Marilynn Monroe.  Good food, good friends, good entertainment and good times were had by all.  Now it is time to hit the road once more and head to Florida for the winter.  First stop is Jacksonville where we are really excited to visit with grandson Joe, his new wife Joni and son Justin. Goodbye everyone back home, we love and miss you already, but we gotta keep moving........stayed tuned for more from the Sunshine State………………………..

Homeward Bound

5/23 – 6/27/2015 – Central PA/Pocono’s/Rhinebeck NY – Just took it easy over the next month while resting up from our cross country journey.  First stop was in Yogi Bear's Jellystone Campground at Shangri-La in Milton PA.  We just relaxed for about five days at this very nice rustic campground in central PA and played a little golf.  Then it was off to the Pocono’s for a week where stayed at Mountain Vista Campground in East Stroudsburg PA.  The Daniel’s family plans to spend the weekend with us at the campground was derailed when we learned the Jessica was in a pretty bad car accident in Florida which would require Dina to head south for a week to get Jessica settled in after she was released from the hospital.  Since the family couldn’t come to us, we decided go to them.  We had a really nice day in Bordentown on Saturday and hit the Daniels family favorite Jamaican restaurant for dinner before Dina had to catch a flight to FL in the am.  (Jessica is healing slowly but still hurting a great deal on her three month road to recovery)  Then we decided to surprise the rest of the family at a birthday party at Jack and Arlene’s house on Sunday in Mantua.  On the way back to PA we stopped in to see the Senteneri girls in Sewell who were screaming with tears of joy when we knocked on the door.  It was really a fantastic day and well worth the 250+ mile round trip.  The remainder of the week we toured the Pocono area, played some golf and just relaxed.  Next stop was Rhinebeck NY where we spent the next two weeks visiting Brian’s mother and his sister’s family.  Stayed at Interlake Campground located conveniently only seven miles away and had a wonderful visit with the family while enjoying some touring, shopping, dining, and golfing in the area.  It is really great to see the family again after traversing the country over the past eleven months and we are really looking forward to spending the summer with the grandchildren and the rest of the family in NJ.   Our last stop before heading to NJ was a family vacation at Normandy Farms Campground in Foxboro MA where we had a great time for a week.  Now on to NJ where we will spend the next two months at Four Seasons Campground in Pilesgrove NJ....See you all in NJ.
